After moving to Perth from England in 1981, Paul absorbed the influence of iconic bands like The Who and Dire Straits.
His love for blues grew alongside admiration for virtuoso guitarists and classic British rock.
Emerging within Perth’s vibrant music scene, Paul found mentorship under American guitarist John Heussenstamm, who nurtured his raw talent through studio visits and gig collaborations.

From Band Frontman to Solo Spotlight
Paul formed Dead Flowers, an original band that performed across Perth festivals and venues, releasing two self-titled EPs and gaining local recognition.
His collaboration with Brett Keyser of Innocent Bystanders added early momentum to his career, deepened by their shared connection to Heussenstamm.
Inspired by his time in Bondi, Paul wrote “Back to Bondi,” which earned airplay on Perth’s country music station.
